Abstract
The pandemic of COVID-19 from 2020 has had a dramatic impact on the functioning of libraries and public libraries in particular. In this context, innovation in libraries was globally encouraged by IFLA to address the challenges. Numerous examples from around the world were documented and disseminated through the official IFLA website.
Public libraries in Greece followed the international examples of innovation and managed, some less and some more, to offer services to their public and to upgrade their role in the community. In general, the pandemic crisis seems to have encouraged library managements to implement innovations and accelerated modernization and reforms in libraries that responded to the challenges of the health crisis.
