Abstract
Main theme of this dissertation is the analysis of diabetes through research by the Robert Koch Institute. Sources of information in this study were people with and without diabetes. Then there are mentioned the exact definition of the disease, its types, while at the same time the factors that affect it are noted. This text focuses on the daily habits that can aggravate the situation. It is about the way of information, while an important point is the way the sufferer treats the disease. Ways to prevent and treat diabetes are mentioned, while the consequences it may have can be irreversible, a fact that is certified by the Federal Center for Health Information and its results will be part of the National Diabetes Survey. In addition, the ADM telephone survey is conducted, which targets polls and is divided into two sections, with the former targeting people over the age of 18 and the latter targeting people diagnosed with diabetes. The ultimate goal of this research is to compare people with and without diabetes. The data collected were related to the diagnosis, to how the person perceives the disease, prevention and more general information. According to statistics, various coefficients were used for the accuracy of the results, while gender, age and educational level are the main criteria. Regarding to the population without diabetes, the comparison was made between women and men and based on the educational level, while the questions were mainly aimed at the knowledge about the type of diabetes, showing a big difference. Responses to the perception of the disease did not seem to differ much between the sexes, while in terms of the degree of information of individuals, it appeared that highly educated people focused on the causes that can cause diabetes and their knowledge was sufficient in relationship with people of low educational level. Typically, these individuals used their doctor, the press and the internet as sources of information for their information, while the rest of the individuals were limited to the information from their doctor. It was noted, however, that the media provide limited credibility for information. Finally, the study recorded detailed data obtained from people with diabetes and focused on the average age, how long the disease lasted, while special attention was paid to people who have been suffering for the last twelve months, focusing on questions about type 2 diabetes and their general knowledge.
