Abstract
This thesis examines the personal experiences of Ionian University’s interpreting students in relation to the seminars, workshops and conferences they participated in. The purpose of this research is to assess the effectiveness of interpreting students’ voluntary participation in authentic conference settings. The answers given by undergraduate interpreting students of the Department of Foreign Languages, Translation and Interpreting to the questionnaire distributed to them online, reflect what they have gained from their participation. The research was based on five stages: the study of interpreting curricula in Greece and abroad, the construction of a questionnaire, conducting interviews with interpreters, documenting the results, drawing conclusions. The research results indicate that this training method, prior to graduation, proves to be particularly effective and contributes to the development of proficient interpreting professionals.
