Abstract
The thesis explores the role of humor in music, focusing on composition for audiovisual works and specifically the film "Συζητήσεις με τέσσερα ζώα και τρεις ιδιάζουσες προσωπικότητες για την αγάπη" (=Conversations with Four Animals and Three Unique Personalities About Love). The first part presents a literature review that includes humor theories, techniques for representing musical humor, and a discussion on the interaction of music, dialogue, and imagery in creating humorous effects. The second part analyzes the film’s music, focusing on how the songs integrate into the audiovisual whole. Each character is assigned a unique musical part that contributes to the narrative and enhances the humorous tone. Techniques such as musical counterpoint, references, and sound processing enrich the comedic impact, while the music provides an additional layer of meaning. Particular attention is given to shaping the music as an integral part of the storytelling, supporting scene development in a way that elevates the viewer's experience.
Finally, the Appendix includes the plot summary, story outline, and screenplay of the film, offering the framework within which the music unfolds.
