Abstract
This thesis explores the complex intersection of archival description and biographical representation of a contemporary artist. With a focus on the life and creations of Nausica Pastra, a well-known figure in Greek and European Contemporary Art. The study aims to improve our understanding of how archival techniques capture the complex aspects of an artist's legacy. Through a thorough analysis of descriptive methodologies and archival standards, the research seeks to produce a sophisticated and comprehensible archival description that enhances the story of the artist's life and artistic contributions, while safeguarding the artist's documentary evidence. This thesis also safeguards the parameters of the archival description and the artist's estate. The study also examines how archival access systems are changing, taking into account user requirements and technical developments to facilitate the exploration and retrieval of archival material. In conclusion, this thesis contributes to the scientific debate on archival description, while serving as a useful handbook for archivists, curators and organizations involved in the preservation of the heritage of contemporary artists. The study contributes to a more thorough and dynamic method of recording and disseminating the creative heritage of our time by combining archival theory with Nausica Pastra's biography.
