Abstract
Indexing a text is one of the key factors for an effective search. The idea is to pre-process a text and construct a mechanism that can later answer queries of the "pattern P appears in the text" format at a time proportional to the size of the pattern instead of the text.
This thesis will present a series of algorithms as well as some data structures that aim to efficiently store texts and quickly search for patterns within them. A comparison is then made of these structures in order to find the most efficient and fastest structure. In addition, a practical study of the operation and performance of these structures will be undertaken.
