Abstract
This paper examines the concept of diversity, aiming to highlight its manifestations in the
texts of the Literary Texts Anthology in the Greek Primary School, as well as the essence
of this relationship through the interviews of three educators, currently teaching in
primary schools in Corfu Island. The following is a clarification of the terms used in this
essay and an attempt to express the crucial correlationbetween diversity, multiculturalism,
language and identity. This research is based on the initial hypothesis that diversity
appears in the Anthology limited thematically and is influenced by the relationship
between diversity and Curricula. The appropriate techniques, which were selected for the
purposes of this paper, were the Content Analysis, the inductive category system, as they
were constructed, and semi-structured interview. The results of the research confirmed
the initial hypothesis and even revealed that there are only few references to issues related
to special education (people with disabilities) and intercultural education (education of
refugees and immigrants). In conclusion, the study concludes with some practical
recommendations for further research and several proposals for enriching the Anthology
with additional themes, targeting to create a more 'open' school in terms of fostering
intercultural sensitivity and diversity acceptance.
