Abstract
The main topic of this thesis is the study of the branch of the General Archives of the State in the region of Messinia. This work examines the service from two main perspectives: the theoretical and the practical.
From the theoretical perspective, the thesis will focus on the process of searching for information related to the archives and the functioning of the branch. Various methods and techniques used for discovering and organizing archival data will be analyzed, along with the significance of preserving and making these records accessible to the public.
On the other hand, the practical aspect of the thesis includes a visit to the specific branch and a presentation of the functions of the archival service. This experience will allow for direct observation and understanding of the daily operations of the service, the resources it possesses, and the challenges it faces in archiving and managing the records.
