Abstract
After the Genocide of the Pontic Greeks and the Greco-Turkish War, the acme was the contracting of the Treaty of Lausanne in July 24 1923, in which the exchange was not voluntary and free, but compulsory. Thousands of Greeks from Anatolia, Thrace and Pontus were forced to emigrate. This thesis deals with the cultural habits and the food culture of the refugees of the community of Palia Charavgi Kozani. Initially, after references in the first chapter about the genocide of the Pontians, the Greco-Turkish War and the exchange of populations between Greece and Turkey and the refugees' rehabitation and integration proccess, historical events that forever marked the history of Greece, are presented in the second chapter with extensive reference to the life and culture of the refugees of this community. Specifically, the historical context of the village, the conditions and difficulties they faced at the beginning as well as the gradual creation of the village are presented. In the continuation of the second chapter, the results of the integration of the refugees are presented both on an economic and ideological level as well as culturally. Special reference has been made to their eating habits and customs. Finally, reference is made to the conclusions resulting from the overall research, as well as additional data and rich photographic material.
