Abstract
The present thesis deals with the concept of self-awareness and the way it can be perceived when trying to conceive the person as part of an interconnected world. At first the key question of the thesis and the methodology that was followed are being presented. Secondly the theoretic part is being analyzed, which deals with the concepts of self-awareness and of the world interconnectedness from the perspective of atomic physics. This part concludes with a number of characteristic examples of interactive installations that influenced the development of the project. Thirdly begins the presentation of "I AM", starting from the main concept, the transformation of one person's heartbeat to light formations. Then follows an attempt to describe the way the artwork is being approached by the audience and the rules that define it. Finally, there is an analytic description of the hardware and technology that was used, accompanied by the necessary images. The conclusions, which play an important part in the thesis, refer to the ways the artwork interprets the notions of self-awareness and interconnectedness, and also the needs for personal development, privacy and connection.
