Abstract
This diploma thesis examines the burnout of employees in the modern hotel industry, with particular emphasis on the case of Corfu hotels. Its aim is to investigate the causes that contribute to the occurrence of burnout, its effects on the health and work performance of employees, as well as the development and proposal of strategies to deal with it. Through the analysis of both secondary and primary data, collected through questionnaires and interviews, the research aims to understand this dynamic problem within the particularly demanding environment of the hotel industry. The study highlights the importance of creating a healthy work environment that will help reduce burnout, while offering practical recommendations to improve employee well-being and increase productivity in the industry.
The thesis contributes to the scientific dialogue on the issue of burnout, highlighting the need for further research and intervention in specialized sectors of the economy such as the hotel industry, and especially in high demand tourist destinations such as Corfu. In addition, it underlines the need to adopt integrated human resource management strategies that take into account the psychological well-being of employees, in order to enhance the sustainability and competitiveness of hotel units in the ever-intensifying global tourism competition.
