Abstract
This dissertation is being conducted for the undergraduate studies of the Department of Foreign Languages, Translation and Interpretation. The main focus of the thesis is the subtitling of an English short film into Greek language and the commentary of the translation process, the further translation problems as well as the technical issues that arose during the creation of the subtitles. The video that forms the core of the thesis is "How to humor your stress", a TedX speech by Loretta LaRoche in New Bedford, Massachusetts in November 2016, which highlights stress and its coping mechanisms through humor. From the beginning, I wanted to be involved in subtitling a TedX speech, as I attend them with great fascination not only because of the entertainment they provide but especially for the life lessons they generously share while creating such an intimate atmosphere. I attended a plethora of speeches and after thorough research, I chose this particular speech, as I was intrigued by the topic and how the speaker presented her arguments.
