Edge: a film and compositional commentary with supporting short films and compositional commentaries

Abstract
Edge is a short film I conceived, filmed, edited and produced, along with composing the score and recording and producing the soundtrack. The film was screened with the score performed live at Theocharakis Foundation for the Fine Arts and Music Concert Hall in Syntagma, Athens, on 23rd February, 2018, where I recorded the musicians performing the score to produce the final soundtrack. The final film and its detailed compositional commentary are presented here, along with four supporting works and their compositional commentaries: El Empleo - a new soundtrack of music, sound design and foley for the award-winning animated short film; Woyzeck - an audio composition inspired by scenes 20, 21 and 23 of Büchner’s theatrical play; Duet - a composition for the animated short film by Glen Keane; and Fantasmagorie - a new composition for the 1908 hand-drawn animation by Émile Cohl. The materials contained in the archive are the audiovisual materials for the short films (Edge, El Empleo, Duet and Fantasmagorie), the audio file for Woyzeck and an accompanying PDF with the compositional commentaries.
