Abstract
Technologies such as virtual and augmented reality are opening new horizons in the vizualization and interaction of the visitors with the cultural heritage, in places like museums, exhibitions, and institutions. In this context, an extensive study is presented on the utilization of these technologies in the field of silversmithing in Ioannina, which is presented in the 5th panhellenic conference on digital cultural heritage. Through virtual reality, objects and spaces are transformed into dynamic learning tools, offering the general public an exciting immersion into the cultural wealth of the region. Serious games, designed for educational purposes, constitute a new tool for the effective learning of cultural content. The article highlights the educational goals of the simulation and analyzes the complex relationships between type, usage context, technological solutions, and learning effectiveness. This approach revitalizes cultural education and opens new perspectives for showcasing cultural heritage.
