Abstract
Tourism is one of the many significant departments of the global economy. Its
progress, especially subsequently finish of World War II, was spectacular and its
impact in a lot countries was as economic as it was beneficial and social. The need
over time and global development for new shapes of tourism that would provide
something fresh and unlike , lead to the surface different figures of tourism that aim to
satisfying even the most demanding tourists. In addition, the climate crisis is now
threatening our own lives and we are the final progeniture to manage take care of it.
We need to stay united to keep unique endangered species alive, to curb the climate
crisis, to resist policies that threaten the natural environment, to change lifestyles, and
to claim a better and safer world for future generations.
The aim of this essay is the research of the concept of volunteer tourism (combination
of voluntary work with tourism activities) and the evolution of this alternative form of
tourism in Greece. Through the research, the appropriate conditions will be created
for a further understanding of voluntourism, its actions and its repercussion in our
country. We will also understand what a Non-Governmental Organization is and its
history.
