Abstract
The purpose of this thesis is to record the psychosocial changes of Greek society during the period of the Memoranda in Greece (2008-2019), a period in which Greece faced the worst economic and consequently political crisis of the last 100 years. The project is attempted by studying scientific articles as well as the Greek and foreign press of the time as well as by conducting a public questionnaire.
Greece found itself, in peacetime, in an unprecedented situation that threatened its very existence and its future.
As our research shows, the loss of national control over the governance of the country fueled an outbreak of political cynicism at the level of political figures in an attempt to ascribe political responsibilities. Accordingly, European Politicians and the foreign press tarnish the Greek state with their statements and publications. Greek citizens are withdrawing their trust both in Greek politicians and in European politicians and the foreign press.
To this day, many questions still remain open, especially those concerning to what extent the years of the Memoranda have prescribed the current and long-term developments in Greece in 21st century.
