Abstract
The rapid spread and global popularity of Korean pop music has been of particular concern to scholars in recent years in terms of its influence on its listeners, its industry, and the relationship between idols and their fans. These concerns have been the impetus for a deeper analysis of its presence and influence in Greece. This thesis aims to explore the views of Greek listeners on Korean pop music, as well as its influence on them and their relationship with Korean idols. An online questionnaire was formulated and shared on social media platforms, and the collected data were analyzed quantitatively and qualitatively. The research questions were related to the opinions of K-pop listeners regarding its influence on their daily lives, Korean culture, and their view of the Korean music industry. Trends of participants' engagement with K-pop and Korean culture are analyzed in terms of gender and age. The thematic analysis revealed categories related to their engagement with K-pop, social networking, K-pop diversity, and their view of the music industry and K-pop Idols, among others.
