Abstract
The ILS systems, which are used in libraries, constitute multi-module programs that include a set of limitations. Usually, they are large-scale programs, with significant computational requirements, inflexible and often not user-friendly. In order to tackle a portion of the problems of those systems, in this thesis we develop a web application that deals with a core function of ILS systems: searching and displaying the documents of a catalogue. The goal of the application in development is, with the help of modern technologies, to be flexible and at the same time friendly both to the user and to the system’s computational resources. Finally, it is concluded that by employing appropriate technologies, such an application can achieve the objectives set.
