Abstract
This Master’s thesis consists of the translation, and its commentary, of an extract taken from the working paper Necessity as the mother of invention: monetary policy after the crisis, published in the website of the European Central Bank. The source text is a specialized text from the domain of economics, in general, and of monetary policy, in particular, combining terminology from both monetary policy and statistics. The translation process is based on the functional translation theory developed by Vermeer, Reiss and Nord, which contributes to determining the applicable translation strategies.
