Abstract
This undergraduate thesis discusses my experience during a six-month music teaching practice, which took place at a public Primary school in Northern Greece, from November 2023 to April 2024. It included music lesson observations, which took place during the first month, and music teaching, which took place over the next 5 months, with 17 students of a Year 2 class and 16 students of a Year 4 class. This dissertation consists of the detailed minute taking of the lessons and rehearsals for school celebrations and events with other schools. This provides a detailed picture of the teaching and learning process. A central element is the reflection, both on the school music teacher’s lessons and on my own teaching experience. With the aim to evaluate and improve my teaching approach, the dissertation includes detailed notes on lesson observations as well as music teaching-learning practices and methodologies, which I have critically thought of and analyzed. The purpose of this thesis is to highlight the importance of teaching practice as a tool for the teacher’s personal and professional development through self-observation during the educational process and its critical analysis.
