Abstract
In recent decades, the value of Intercultural Education has been recognized as necessary for the Greek educational system. Most of the greek schools have a student potential from diverse cultural backgrounds, migrant and refugee families. This action research was based in Culturally Responsive Teaching (CTR), a perspective that follows and evolves the principles of Intercultural Education and offers equal learning opportunities to native and foreign students. This study was carried out in the second grade of a regional multicultural school, in order to investigate the students’ experiences and interactions through the intercultural music program. In the classroom there were five countries of origin. Through music, which can be the link between students of different nationalities, students got to know better their culture and the cultures of their classmates. They learned songs in five languages, danced traditional dances and developed their creativity through musical activities. The present study followed data from the action research model of the "Eco-bodily-experiential" perspective of Pourkos (2015) and from the Intercultural Music Education model of Dionysiou (2016). After analyzing the data, it was observed that students strengthened the relationships between them through their experiences and developed their intercultural consciousness.
