Abstract
The contents of the degree consist of the following projects:
Arnold Riedhammer "Groovin Timps" (1994)
The project begins with the projection of a simple theme which then evolves with a variety of virtuosity variations. At the same time, the back of the baguette is required for reasons of sound variety.
Eric Sammut "Libertango" (2002)
The work is based on the themes of Astor Piazzolla, his stylistic approach however reflects the virtuosity of solo maribist Eric Sammut.
Takatsugu Muramatsu "Land" (2002)
Land was written for maribist Momoko Kamiya by composer Takatsugu Muramatsu. This beautiful and elegant piece incorporates a Rubato rhythm allowing the performer to be very expressive in the context defined by the composer.
Casey Cangelosi "Etude in A minor n2" (2010)
This work is a challenging solo for Marimba that presents some serious technical challenges to the performer. This particular one really forges the right octaves, while presenting a complex polyphonic structure similar to that observed in soloist works of romantic pianistic repertoire.
Alexej Gerassimez "Asventuras" (2011)
This work was written by the composer with the aim of projecting on the one hand a "Rudimental" theme as observed on pages 3 and 5 and on the other hand a theme that uses a variety of tools for the production of various sound colors from the taboo as seen on page 4.
Matthew Lorrick "Odessa" (2012)
This work is written for the world-renowned maribist soloist Miroslav Dimov. It is a dynamic and technically challenging project that you come across today in many lists of solo maribas competitions around the world.
