Abstract
Racism is a social problem that has concerned the global through many centuries with blatant examples of extreme forms of racism. Ιn America exists since her discovery back in 1492. The Europeans of that time brought the Africans to the New Land and brutally enslaved them. The native residents of the newly discovered America, the Indians, didn’t have a better fate considering that until 19th century more than 100.000.000 of them were extinguished. Nowadays racism still exists against different nations that immigrate and choose to live in America but is more obvious against African Americans. The racism against them derives even from the police whereas the vast number of African Americans killings by the police is really surprising. These killings most of the time have happened without cause or triggering from the victims. Through the video of the murder of the African American George Floyd, the size of the violence and brutality of american police can be seen. As it was expected the video went viral and caused different reactions, peaceful and non- peaceful ones. One of the peaceful reactions was the Black Lives Matter movement that was created in 2013 and tries to inform the public and increase awareness as far as systemic racism is concerned
