Abstract
Mental illnesses constitute a significant percentage of the diseases that burden citizens worldwide. Due to a lack of understanding of the important link between mental illness and other medical conditions, the burden of mental disorders has likely been underestimated. As mental health is more widely recognized as a major global public health concern, the increasing demand to accept funds for spending on preventive services is not only necessary, but valuable. In particular, it is vital to gather evidence of effective and appropriate care techniques that are cost-effective and sustainable. The field of serious games has seen significant growth over the past decade. It is noted that the adjective "serious" in serious games refers to their function of conveying some kind of input or message, such as knowledge, skill, or generally providing the player with some content. Much research has been conducted on the application of video games to mental health well-being. Through experiments, researchers and scientists have come up with results that give valuable insights into the use of video games to combat various mental disorders and improve the mental health of players. This paper aims to analyze these experiments and their results, noting which methods stand out more than others, mainly due to their effectiveness. Finally, the results of a questionnaire in the context of this work and the conclusions drawn from it are presented.
