"Critical perspectives on Translator's Invisibility"

Abstract
The appearance of the translation served as a medium for intercultural communication and exchange of ideas. In order for the translation to be achieved, many translation theories came to the surface, which differ in their basic elements, depending on what the translator wants to achieve. The complex nature of translation makes translator’s work difficult, but with the development of Cultural and Sociological Studies, due to theorist and translators’ works, such as Friedreich Schleiermacher, Antoine Berman, Lawrence Venuti, acquired skills that determined the evolution of the field. The development of Cultural Studies and the continuous consolidation of Anglo-American culture prompted Lawrence Venuti to write his book The Translator’s Invisibility: A History of Translation. This book deals with the "Invisibility", the historical development of the term, its advantages, and its disadvantages. Venuti, also, refers to the terms "domestication" and "foreignization" that Berman had spoken about a little earlier, and which played an important role in his work and in his perception about translation. This essay targets in explaining and analyzing the mean and the value of the terms, “invisibility”, “domestication”, “foreignization” and “visibility” in the translation and how they can affect the translator’s perspective on the original text.
