Abstract
The present research studies the creation and operation of the new Ionian’s University Museum of Typography. The research was carried out on the basis of the principles of modern Museology, in terms of the protection of the objects, the exhibition principles and the visitor. The first part of the study presents the evolution of the science of Museology, the role of the university museums in Greece and abroad, as well as the institutional framework of the Greek university museums and their role in education. The historical context of the invention and evolution of writing, book and typography is included in the second part of the research. Finally, the third part presents the museological and museographic study for the new university museum, including proposals for educational programs, proposals for sustainability and a policy for the development and management of collections, with examples from other museums.
