Abstract
In the landscape of information technologies, of big and open data, and of the internet of things: cities are becoming smart, and participants in them – governments, enterprises and society – transform knowledge, perceptions, behaviours and actions in order to produce new and better realities; thereby to utilize and accomplish objectives such as development via innovation; enhanced functionality and reduction of cost via energy management and conservation; environmental sustainability; and quality of life. Adults transform their knowledge through participation as acting agents or action recipients in the environments of smart cities. Such action develops at the political, economic, social and cultural levels in forms suggested or imposed by that “brave new world”: platforms, laboratories, incubators, communities and others. On the aggregate of all that activity, through successes, errors, delays and impediments, but with impressive speed, the city learns and transforms itself, at times towards its economic growth, at times towards the welfare of its citizens.
The Capstone Project’s title is “The Transformation of Adult Knowledge within the Smart City Framework”. Our objective is to trace that knowledge through the capabilities and tools provided by smart cities in a presentation proposal using Prezi software.
