Abstract
In this thesis, extracts from Georges Canguilhem's book "La connaissance de la vie" are translated from French into Greek. Specifically, the introduction and chapter 7, entitled "La monstruosité et le monstreux", are translated as they appear in the 2nd augmented edition of the book published in 2015 by the French publisher Vrin. The translator aims at creating a text that is comprehensible to the Greek reading public while maintaining, as far as possible, the author's writing style. Translating a philosophical text, such as this one, from French to Greek raises some issues that are analyzed in this thesis along with an explanation of the translator's choices to deal with them. In addition, the historical references that Canguilhem makes are noted and explained, as far as possible, to provide a better understanding of the text and of the author's mode of reasoning. Finally, the philosophical background of the text is discussed with a brief reference to the field of historical epistemology and the history of ideas, analyzing specific philosophical issues related to this text.
