Abstract
La Dame du Café d’en Face, by award – winning Ivorian author Koffi Kwahulé, is a stage play addressing ever – relevant issues and focusing on human life, marital and family relationships, an excerpt of which was translated in Greek – for the first time – in order for it to earn a place in Greek literature and theatre. By combining different techniques and solutions for the best result possible, paying attention to the original text’s senses, that made it deep and special, and respect to all the individual – structural, linguistic, stylistic – elements composing it, its translation was achieved. In this attempt to transfer this work from the source to the target language coexist the original text, the translated text – one that was born from the original but at the same time is a worthy match for it –, a quick look at the most important information about the author and a text accompanying the translation and describing the process.
