Abstract
The subject of this project is the translation and commentary of various extracts of the novel Leave Me by Gayle Forman. The specific extracts have been chosen from the beginning, the middle and the end of the book. The selected extracts amount to about 3,600 words and the source language is English, while the target language is Greek. After a lot of research, it was found that the present novel has not been translated into Greek, so this thesis is considered original.
First, the transcript is given and then the source text. Later, there's the commentary on the translation, the original, and the translation process follows.
As for the present book, it is worth mentioning that it has been of great interest to us as it touches on a burning and sensitive issue: the psychology of a mother with two young children. In this play, the protagonist, Maribeth, a mother of twins who is totally committed to bringing up her children, a woman who works and struggles hard to be able to provide them with everything, suffers a heart attack. Her life changes and her way of thinking changes with it, leading her to a decision that is crazy for the society: she packs her things and leaves. In the selected passages that follow, we will also observe various aspects of her character that are gradually discovered. Finally, the present text also refers to the question of the continuous fight in life, while near the end it highlights the importance of constant effort in order to achieve our goals.
