Abstract
The limitless possibility of being able to imagine, to think, logical and abstract
concepts and images. Τhe capacity to dream, to envision and most of all, to be able
to take all these mental processes in to your hands and by slowly, precisely spinning
them and transform them into life and action. To create. Isn't this the nature's most
precious gift of being a human?
In this paper, all these ideas are brought into life and take form, more
precisely, it is presented in detail the stages of approach, design and implementation
of a short fictional animation film with title “In Limbo”. By using the classic
methodology for creating a fiction film, from writing the script to production and then
the final composition. A journey of personal exploration in the field of animation and
especially in the technique of Stop Motion, in an attempt to answer the main question
of the work.
"How do we create a short stop motion animation in practice?"
For this to happen, a necessary condition is to know and perceive the quality of the
Animation itself. Thus, through a historical review I investigate the term of Animation.
A study is made on the various techniques and styles, always according to the
creative imprint of the great creators of Animation, in order to conclude at the
technique that has been structured my personal work.
I am looking for the influences that arise in my creative composition, based on
the style and morphological characteristics that characterize it, common elements
that are also found in the artistic movement of German Expressionism.
After, however, first I get to deconstruct it in parts, in terms of the meaning
that it conveys conceptually, so that the viewer can share and maybe find common
ground, with my thoughts and personal searches that are evident through the
creation of this work.
