Abstract
The subject of this thesis is the creation of an audiovisual work in the context of video art that deals with the concept of life and death. The purpose of the work is to awaken the viewer as a “memento mori”, a reminder of his mortal nature and non-negotiable death. The acceptance of human mortality wants to act as a driving force to push the viewer into his best life. The work is influenced by the values of the Epicurean and Stoic philosophers whose theories, though differing, converge that the purpose of life is the pursuit of good life, the conquest of Ataxia and Virtue as supreme goods. Both philosophical currents present the fear of death as an obstacle to man's conquest.
