Abstract
The aim of the present M.A. dissertation is to examine the dimensions of intercultural conflict through the approach of texts of the ancient Greek written tradition. Initially, specific reference is made to terms related to intercultural conflict, as well as to theories regarding the perception and the management of the intercultural conflict. The third chapter presents the research method used, as well as the research questions, which guided the research of this dissertation. In particular, since the research is qualitative, the method of content analysis was used, in order to explore the ideas concerning the phenomenon of intercultural conflict. The fourth chapter analyzes cases of intercultural conflict, included in texts of Greek antiquity, which come from the work of Herodotus, Xenophon, Plato, Plutarch, Arrian and Strabo. Emphasis is placed on the causes that trigger the conflict, as well as the strategies followed by individuals in their effort to effectively manage the conflict. In the final section conclusions are presented that on the one hand make visible the connection of the causes of intercultural conflict with the cultural background of individuals and on the other hand show that its management presupposes the acquisition of communication skills. Finally, proposals are submitted for the extension of the research.
