Abstract
In the following dissertation, the excerpt “La situation économique de la Communauté” of the Official Journal of the European Communities (French : Journal officiel des Communautés européennes) was translated.
In particular, this economic study was published on 28 January 1964 and has been translated from pages 173 to 177. In short, this text aims to provide accurate information on the remarkable growth that characterized the economy of the Community in 1963, with an extensive report of the economic situation of the countries of the Community, specifically the Federal Republic of Germany and France.
In addition to the translation, which is given in table form where the original and the translation appear in full correspondence, an extensive commentary is given in which the source text and the target text are analyzed in detail (a few words about EUR-Lex, text type, text functions, Skopos, categories of translation problems, comparison of source and target text). Furthermore, examples of how to deal with translation difficulties have been analyzed and a detailed glossary of terms in alphabetical order to facilitate understanding of specialized terminology is provided. Finally, the bibliography lists all the sources - print and online - that contributed towards the completion of the translation process.
