Abstract
This study explores the village of Spartillas in Corfu through a two-part approach. The
first part delves into the theoretical framework of documentary filmmaking, focusing
on narrative modes as defined by Bill Nichols, such as observation, participation, and
reflexivity. The second part examines the practical aspects of creating a documentary
about Spartillas, outlining the research, methodology, filming process, and editing
techniques employed. The aim is to bridge theoretical insights with practical
implementation, offering a comprehensive view of the village’s changing cultural and
everyday life through the lens of documentary art.
