Abstract
Zoltán Kodály did not remain in history only for his ethnographic and compositional work, but much more for the music-pedagogical revolution he brought to Hungary in the 20th century and for the fact that he bestowed humanity with a music education concept that became known, loved and adopted and used in lands near and far. His method, as it is known, managed to attract the interest of the music education scholars and practitioners from all over the world and today, almost 50 years after his death, a few universities offer Kodály based courses and many music teachers seek and receive some kind of training on the method. This action research project focused on the effects that a Kodály inspired short music programme can deliver in a greek kindergarten classroom both on the pupils and on their teacher. The programme was implemented between the end of January and the beginning of March 2022, during the Covid-19 pandemic in a Kindergarten class in NW Greece. The students that took part in it had no prior exposure to neither the Kodály concept nor to a series of music lessons led by a specialist. The resulting observations, the recommendations made, along with the educational resources that were collected or created during this research project, can prove useful for teachers, parents, as well as researchers interested in the musical education of students in the kindergarten and more specifically, in the application of the Kodály Concept in the Greek kindergarten.
