Abstract
Translation is, in one way or another, a permanent expression of human cultural activity. It exists in our daily lives and is an important function, not exclusively limited to transferring texts from one linguistic code to another. Theatrical translation, a complex and complicated genre, tiptoes exactly on the point where translation becomes an experienced action, and touches multiple expressions of the human activity. Theatre as an act is in itself an experienced activity of translation, the theatrical text being subjected to multiple translations each time it is directed and staged anew. In this dissertation we will study the example of the translation of Tennessee Williams’s unpublished play This Is (An Entertainment).
