Abstract
The information age has led to the use of electronic devices and services in
an unprecedented scale. Online shopping, searching for information on the internet and
the internet of things is now a part of our daily lives. Data driven technology is a force behind various critical pieces of
our society, such as those of the economy and health. Based on this data we are called
to make increasingly important decisions.
As is well known, with the spread of technology the volume of data to be collected, processed
and assimilated is already big and tends to increase year by year. As it is, managing this volume of information presents various challenges. These challenges are dealt with by the big data sector.
At the same time, with the advent of more and more open source software and the
more widespread use of it, it was deemed legitimate, in the context of this dissertation,
to create a system for collecting, processing and studying data derived from open source source code. In order to consider the possibilities
of this system, tests were conducted with data from existing source
code from established software packages.
After the tests, it became clear that code being treated as data gives value to the field of code analysis, despite all the limitations of the proposed system.
