Abstract
In the recent years, Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs) are increasingly entering in every aspect of our everyday life. Therefore, it is reasonable to increase their use in the health sector. In particular, the use of ICT in the health sector and in particular of monitoring patient files electronically, gradually replacing the records in written form. In the present study, knowledge, attitudes, training of health professionals on matters of safety and privacy are firstly examined, as well as the use of electronic medical records (EMR) in medical practice in Greece and the factors which have an effect on it. At the same time, it will be attempted to record the knowledge of health workers on the Electronic Health Record (EHR) the implementation of which Greece intends to begin soon.
According to the results of the survey, it appears that the age, years in service of health professionals and their knowledge in data security issues do not seem to affect the use of EMRs. On the other hand, the perception of users about the usefulness and ease of use of the EHR positively affects the healthcare professional attitudes towards the use of EHR. Regarding the obstacles of the use of EMR - EHR it was found that the security and privacy issues according to the sample of our research constitute a serious obstacle. On the contrary, economic-related obstacles have been found not to affect the adoption and use of EMRs - EHRs
