Abstract
In recent years, the softwarization and virtualization of networking services has emerged in modern networking environments. Such environments primarily rely on the Software-Defined Networking (SDN) paradigm, which promises “physically distributed but logically centralized” control of the network. Hence, they provide unprecedented capabilities in the automation and management of networking processes, but they also open up new challenges that need to be addressed. One of the most prevalent challenges in such an environment constitutes the orchestration of resources, such as SDN controllers, as the conditions, under which operation is conducted, fluctuate dynamically over time. Effective management of such resources is vital for optimal network operation, including the minimization of latency. Therefore, the goal of the present Thesis is to study resource orchestration issues that emerge in dynamic SDN environments for optimizing network performance.
