Abstract
The internet has become not only a very important means of accessing information but also an intercultural bridge. The majority of – professional or non-professional – bodies, institutions and associations create websites in order to promote their activity, often to an audience across borders, something that would be impossible without the contribution of translation, as a communication tool between at least two cultures. The websites of Philharmonics, as associations with domestic or even international activity as well, are mostly already translated into English, as an international language. In the present dissertation, the translation of the website of the Philharmonic Society “Mantzaros” from Greek into German will be presented, the Greek text will be analyzed, as well as the purpose of its translation into German. In addition, the problems that arose during the translation process and their solution in order to create a functional text will be discussed. Finally, a greek-german glossary of the technical terms of the text will be presented.
