Abstract
In this thesis, the Study of Travel Planning & Orientation Planning Issues is presented and being solved through an Android application. A tourist wants to visit all the sights of a holiday town starting and returning to his hotel. The main problem is finding the best route. There are several approximate and heuristic algorithms that attempt to solve the problem, while in recent years there have been several attempts using genetic algorithms as well. Genetic Algorithms are a search method of optimal solutions in systems that can be described as mathematical problems. They are useful in problems that contain many parameters and there is no analytical method to find the optimal solution. The operation of GA is inspired by biology. It uses the idea of evolution through genetic mutation, natural selection and interbreeding. In this thesis the Study of Travel Planning & Orientation Planning Issues is solved using GA. Each sight is represented by a vertex, and an edge exists between two sights if they are connected. The population is formed, each solution is evaluated separately, and we proceed to the next generation after applying the genetic operators. Some of the solutions are passed to next generation intact through the selection process, some will undergo mutation, while others will interbreed creating offspring.
