Abstract
The present study is primarily engaged with the work of the Argentinian poet Alejandra Pizarnik. Ιt is divided into five main parts. The first comprises the basic framework of the Latin American Literature of the 20th century, where our poet belongs and her influences derive from. In the second part her biography and literary work are thoroughly presented. Afterwards, her poetry and its special features are critically examined, mainly emphasizing the role of the emblematic words in her poems. Ιn the fourth part, her presence in the Greek letters is described, including the translations and the special issues that introduce her to Greek readers. An analytical framework of the theory regarding poetry translation and the approaches suggested towards it are then mentioned. The last part refers to a comparative analysis of the translation of Pizarnik’s specific poems in relation to the original texts, taking into account the degree of rendering its special qualities and the outcoming result in the target language.
