Abstract
This thesis examines the role and evolution of financial technologies (FinTech) in the modern financial sector. The aim is to present an overview of the operation, forms, technologies, and advantages of FinTech companies through an extensive literature review of research articles and various FinTech cases. Additionally, after conducting thorough research and collecting data from the elevategreece.gr database, an overview of domestic startups operating in the FinTech sector according to the platform is presented, along with the services they provide. Furthermore, after a literature review of legislative articles, laws, and references, some key aspects of the proper operation of a FinTech company are discussed, including its obligations to the financial system and references to the consumer rights for their protection. Finally, there is a discussion on the actions taken in Greece regarding the support that FinTech startup companies can receive from the government through various programs.
