Abstract
The purpose of the thesis is to explore the possibilities, challenges and various stages for the development of applications that monitor the spread of diseases such as seasonal influenza. It also aims to explore the possibilities and challenges of using Internet of Things (IoT) systems to record symptoms.
As part of this work, the Fluspot application was developed. The application records symptoms and monitors the transmission of seasonal flu, to help inform and prevent the disease.
The research finds immediate application in the case of the Covid19 pandemic, which struck humanity during the course of the work. The above led to the development of a specific function of monitoring the spread of the virus, using data from external sources.
Also, for the best evaluation of the system that was constructed, prospective users of the system were approached and answers from 66 people were collected in a structured questionnaire.
