Abstract
It is a new trend for museums to apply the principles of universal design to learning and maintain an active social profile, involving people with disabilities in designing and evaluating their actions. Modern museums adopt good practices from other cultural organizations, connect with each other through networks, and implement strategic plans to integrate people with disabilities. They also create accessible material on their website making it friendly to the people to whom it is addressed. The research states that they use the new technologies in order to achieve the multi-sensory access of their visitors on site, in order to then offer them the possibilities of information and experiential experiences. The ultimate goal of museums that apply these practices is extroversion and interaction with their multifaceted audience. This paper examines the case of universal design for visually impaired and gifted children. It briefly presents all the technological support tools that address both categories and can lead them to a multi-sensory visit experience. The site considered as a case study is the typography collection of the Ionian University.
