Abstract
Virtual reality and the creation of virtual worlds advanced lately many techniques and tools are developed ranging from 3D modeling tools to the integration of the elements of the physical world to the virtual worlds. Nowadays, the techniques of the representing natural objects have evolved to a great extent. The usage is extended to a variety of applications including various scientific fields. The research topics and the implementation that virtual worlds can exploit are still ongoing. The purpose of this work is to highlight the modern techniques used in various fields, the promotion of cultural heritage and the digital upgrading of museum sites. This study explains and demonstrates the possibility for the integration of the virtual worlds with platforms which includes content and information of libraries, museums, archives and collections.
