Abstract
This thesis is about the microorganisms that are likely to found in water for human consumption, as well as their identification. Motive of this thesis was my practical training at the Korpi. At first general information about water, its characteristics and its role on Earth are mentioned. Also, the categories of water, specifically drinking water, where it focused on bottled water are listed. Then is pointing out the categories into which bottled water is divided according to European Union legislation, giving preference to natural mineral water. Furthermore, the characteristics of natural mineral water, as well as the factors that affect them are mentioned. Thence the categories of microorganisms that can be found in the water, as well as the microbiological tests carried out are mentioned. Subsequently, there is a description of the analysis that are carried out on a spring water. Finally, the experimental part of this thesis is elaborated the Pour-plate and membrane filtration methods that were used, the equipment is described and the results are presented
