Abstract
This thesis researches the characteristics of the Venetian rule and its course in the Greek area. In more detail, there is a reference to the Venetian rule in the Peloponnese, Crete and the Ionian Islands and what impact it had on the locals of the conquered areas, as well as how much it affected their daily life. In addition, the diplomatic work mentions the appearance of the Ottomans and to what extent this event affected the Venetians, but also the importance the Venetians gave to their archives and what kind of archives have been saved in the Greek area from that period. Specifically, the present paper is divided into 6 chapters: the first presents the situation in Venetian-occupied Greece, the second the conquest of the Peloponnese by the Venetians, the third presents the Venetian rule in Crete and the fourth the Venetian rule in the Ionian Islands. The fifth chapter presents the Ottoman rule and the impact of the Venetians on the Greek area, and finally the sixth chapter presents the records that the Venetians left us.
