Abstract
This project tries to identify whether the news in Greece follow the trends on the Twitter of Greece and vice versa. Twitter trends reflect all the talk about current affairs. In short, they reveal to us what is being discussed nationwide at any given time. Having this information available makes it possible to use the machine learning to find for each trend the corresponding articles from the news. This creates a correlation between Twitter trends and news articles, always in relation to what both sides write. If correlation is strong, this means that the trend is intertwined with the article and vice versa. If it is weak, then either the algorithm failed to find any great similarity, or there is no corresponding article because it was never written. It is up to the reader to locate it with the tools provided in the implementation of the project. Finally, the result is a web page interface, which provides various information about the correlations found. An article and trends search engine are provided for further investigation. It is possible to view the popularity of the trends in relation to time. As well as other information that is constantly increasing and updating over time to explore.
